AccessChina'16 program released

The world’s largest online retail market, fourth largest steel producer and the world's busiest trading port are just some of the sites delegates will get to experience on the AccessChina’16 Business Delegation.

Excitement continues to build for the delegation, to be hosted by the Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE), with the full program of events for the delegation released today.

Over 200 businesses from over six sectors will be on board the delegation which will leave Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport on 23 October this year, on what will be the first international passenger flight from the airport.

The program caters for businesses interested in six key sectors, including agriculture, mining and resources, manufacturing and sustainable design, education, health and aged care, and tourism.

“This is a well-rounded program for businesses across all six sectors to get in there and meet and greet with some major companies in the Chinese market,” TSBE chief executive officer Dr Ben Lyons said.

The program sees three official days of activities for delegates, kicking off with the Day One AccessChina’16 Conference involving three streams of break-out sessions.

“We have a number of global industry leaders who have many years of experience within the Asian and Chinese markets who will equip delegates with the latest information and skills pertaining to their relevant sector,” Dr Lyons said.

“We will of course continue the legacy of our Ag in the Asian Century Conference by hosting Ag in Asia as one of the streams, with the likes of Meat and Livestock Australia, Qantas Cargo, China Skinny, Bon App and NAB Agribusiness to share insights.

“Other exciting speakers across the sectors will include Tourism Australia’s Regional General Manager for North Asia, Andrew Hogg, representatives from Sanori Investment and Normet for energy and resources, and Karen Moffat from Dulwich College for education.”

Following the conference, delegates will experience two days of site visits to some of China’s most renowned companies and facilities.

‘While the conference poses a fantastic opportunity for delegates to hear from some of the best in business in China, the site visits will give attendees the chance to not just sit in a room and hear about the opportunity, but actually get out there and start making connections and see the enormity of their potential in China,” Dr Lyons said.

Program highlights for the various sectors include:

  • Agriculture: Alibaba Hangzhou Campus (largest online retail market in the world), G-Shop (specialist perishable food importer), Sai Cheng logistics (Australia Post’s China Post JV) and Shanghai Lianhao Foods (Australian beef importer).
  • Mining and Resources/Manufacturing and Sustainable Design: Yangshan Deepwater Port (world’s busiest trading port) and Boasteel (fourth largest steel producer in the world).
