Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) are delighted to welcome Pier Smulders, General Manager of Alibaba Australia and New Zealand, to the Agrifood Innovation Forum in Toowoomba on 18 July. Smulders will share the transformative journey of Alibaba and illuminate Alibaba's mission-driven approach to sustainability through their robust Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, the "Seven Petal Flower."

Specifically focusing on Toowoomba and the surrounding regions, Smulders' address is expected to engage local producers, innovators, and industry communities. He will underscore the significant role Alibaba can play in bolstering regional economies and empowering local farmers through sustainable sourcing initiatives.

Attendees will gain insights into how these practices have positively impacted regional producers, enabling them to stand out in the market and meet the growing demand for sustainably sourced goods.

"Alibaba's global direct sourcing model brings immense benefits to both producers and consumers, significantly improving supply chain efficiency. I'm thrilled to delve into how Australian producers can leverage this to their benefit," says Smulders.

In addition, Smulders will highlight Alibaba's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that have directly benefitted regional areas in China. Alibaba is deeply committed to enhancing livelihoods and promoting social responsibility in rural and regional communities.

The Agrifood Innovation Forum, hosted by TSBE, is an ideal platform for addressing the unique challenges and opportunities in the agrifood sector within regional areas.
