Business health checks encouraged to improve business management
The current worldwide crisis has strengthened the need for businesses to have regular 'healthchecks’ which will improve their business management knowledge to assist in this challenging time.
Many businesses have had to adapt their day-to-day organisational structure and many are now depending on staff maintaining productivity while working from home.
Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) recently hosted a digital workshop with business advisory and finance firm Robertson Scannell to provide advice and resources to enable businesses to succeed.
Director of Robertson Scannell, Mark Mahony, facilitated the three-hour digital workshop.
“Today’s businesses requires leaders to be a number of different things – all things to all people,” Mr Mahony said.
“To grow a business you need to build relationships, not only with clients but also with staff.”
“Staff allow the business to grow and continue to evolve.”
Staff are motivated by their leaders and these days an indicator of success is working in an environment that is collaborative.
Attendees were able to learn about various practical tools that they could implement in their business immediately, such as identifying their leadership style, identifying talent, and creating action plans.
“It’s one thing to be able to recognise issues, but it’s the how you plan to improve something once its identified that really matters.”
TSBE Food Leaders Australia General Manager, Bruce McConnel opened the online event and reiterated to attendees the importance of staying well connected and investing in upskilling opportunities through workshops like this, which TSBE are facilitating in partnership with TAFE Queensland.
“TSBE has recently entered into a new partnership with TAFE Queensland which enables us to identify and match educational opportunities to member’s needs and this is the second upskilling workshop we have hosted so far this year,” said Mr McConnel
“It remains a focus of TSBE to understand the shortages in industry skills so that we can facilitate future industry learning.”
Businesses are not able to control everything that happens, but they need to remain focused on their core business.
Organisational leadership is an important part of any business, and when engaged properly and effectively will work to create better business results.
TSBE will be running a series of webinars in the coming weeks. Visit www.tsbe.com.au to keep up to date.
