Toowoomba partnership creates quality workshops for businesses

With drought affected communities across the region continuing to feel the pressure of financial and operational strain, two organisations have come together to lighten the load and pave the way for better decision making during tough times.

After an introduction by Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise, organisations Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Queensland and Robertson-Scannell decided to form a partnership to deliver workshops to support business owners with solving common business problems.

Hosted in webinar form to accommodate to current restrictions, the 90-minute workshop allows attendees to engage with the professionals to guide their team through a series of tools and methodologies to enable them to deliver successful outcomes.

Robertson-Scannell Director, Mark Mahony, said the partnership formed when both companies realised they had a similar goal.

“Lifeline staff met with me in January to discuss how we could work together to help business owners in drought affected communities plan for continuation of their business.”

“We realised very quickly the synergy between our organisations, and how working with businesses to maximise their potential was our priority.”

“Together, we developed a program to assist business owners concentrate on the things that matter and the things they can control,” said Mr Mahony.

The webinars provide an understanding to business owners of the tools they should equip themselves with to develop and stay accountable.

Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Queensland Program and Practice Coordinator, Jodie Edge, said businesses with a clear and concise vision that is well communicated to all stakeholders have sustainable competitive advantage.

“The webinars provide people, who may not ordinarily have had access, to free resources and tools. This will enable them to feel better equipped for the pressures of drought and everyday life.”

“Sadly, in tough times, if people are not well equipped with tools and coping strategies, there is an increased risk of excessive alcohol consumption, gambling, relationship breakdowns and overwhelming feelings of hopelessness.”

“We want to work with people to prevent them moving down one of these paths,” said Ms Edge.
