About Us
HealthWISE is a ‘for purpose’ (not-for-profit), registered charity, and we have been delivering federally funded primary health and social services for over 13 years. Our purpose is creating better health for our communities. Our values are Empowerment, Equality, Community, Passion for Excellence and Visonary.
We are a specialist provider of primary health care services within rural and remote regions. In QLD, we are funded by the Darling Downs & West Moreton Primary Health Network to deliver Mental Health Nurse Care, Lived Experience Workforce/Psychosocial services, Social and Emotional Wellbeing services for First Nations people and Integrated Team Care Services. We also provide Dietitian services under a Fee for Service model across the region, based in Ipswich and Toowoomba, with outreach.
HealthWISE is regarded as a quality service provider and was recently recognised as the winner for Ipswich Health & Wellness Business of the Year (2021) and finalist for Queensland Mental Health Week Achievement Award for not-for-profit organisations (2021).
HealthWISE is fully accredited against the QIC Health and Community Services Standards, 7th Ed. for 2022-2025 and services are consistent with the National Mental Health Services Standards.
A Board of Directors oversees organisational governance and strategic direction. Sub-committees (Finance, Audit and Risk, Corporate Governance and Clinical and Cultural Governance) report to the Board and monitor compliance.
100% (n=110) of our staff hold current Blue cards, National Police Check Certificates and have undertaken both Cultural Awareness, Diversity and Inclusion and health literacy training.
25% of our staff identify as Aboriginal. As an organisation, we are committed to cultural inclusion and are pioneering a cultural inclusion framework that will cover all levels and streams of the organisation to ensure Aboriginal people feel safe, welcome and respected. Staff satisfaction is high and retention was 87% in 2019-20. We won the NSW regional business award for “Excellence in Workplace Inclusion” in 2018.
HealthWISE is registered as a COVID Safe Business and maintains vigilance regarding COVID-19 advice to ensure the wellbeing and safety for all clients and staff.
