Advocacy Update - Shaping the Future of Regional Australia: Challenges and Opportunities
Last week, we had the privilege of welcoming AgriFutures Australia Chair, Cathy McGowan AO, at our September Enterprise Evening. The main takeaway from the evening, was Cathy’s challenge for TSBE to pave the way for the future of regional Australia. The Toowoomba and Surat Basin region, represents a mature energy and agricultural landscape, perfectly poised to lead the charge in the transition to renewables.
Regional Australia is experiencing a renaissance: The transition to more renewable energy is gathering pace and the economic, social, and environmental opportunities are immense. But the challenges are real. How do we find common ground for new energy and agriculture in the same region; what really are these so-called jobs of the future; and what regional infrastructure do we need to support them?
The Toowoomba, Western Downs and Maranoa regions that TSBE covers, are where Australia has the best chance to get all this sorted and to get the balance right.
As collaboration is key to success, we are forming a coexistence working group and invite expressions of interest to join. Together, we can shape a future where agriculture and energy coexist harmoniously, driving sustainable growth and prosperity for our region.
