Beef Battle attracts Darling Downs’ top producers

TSBE Food Leaders Australia (FLA) are once again hosted their ever popular Beef Battle showcasing the Darling Downs’ top-quality brands to judge who has the best steak in town.

This year there were eight top beef brands competing for the title of Darling Downs Best Beef Brand including NH Foods, Mort & Co, Rangers Valley, Stanbroke, JBS Australia, John Dee, Stockyard Beef and Four Daughters Beef.

Stanbroke took out the trophy with their Diamantina Wagyu which impressed all 250 judges who attended the event.

Stanbroke Sales Manager, Mark Harris, said he was delighted to accept the trophy on the night and take out the title of Darling Downs Best Beef Brand for 2020.

"Stanbroke is delighted to be awarded with Best Steak at the Darling Downs Beef Battle. It is such a great event showcasing the amazing beef our region produces and so wonderful to see such a broad cross-section of all the various industries that support our industry together on the night," said Mr Harris.

It was very exciting to showcase Queensland’s finest meat-producing regions to restaurateurs, chefs, procurement teams, and the steak-loving public both near and far.

TSBE Food Leaders Australia (FLA) General Manager Bruce McConnel said he is proud to help deliver the event with local beef brands.

“We wanted to bring the region’s top beef producers together to highlight the outstanding quality of beef we have in the Darling Downs,” Mr McConnel said.

“It will also help develop stronger relationships between suppliers and the food and hospitality industry, both locally and across the state.”

“The event is essentially a blind-tasting competition where guests will try each of the brands’ sirloin steaks and then judge who has the region’s best.”

The event was held at Clifford Park, Toowoomba Turf Club with a steak feast for 250 guests.
