The Price of Misconduct: An Interactive Workshop
Many businesses do not consider the financial consequences of issues like bullying, discrimination, harassment, and domestic violence on their businesses.
Hear from Toowoomba’s leading legal consultant Adair Donaldson, on the impacts of workplace misconduct and insight on what we can do as a business community to proactively address these issues, not only to ensure we are complying with the law, but what we are doing as a business community to create lasting cultural change.
In the interactive workshop Adair will draw on his experience working with organisations like the National Rugby League, the Australian Defence Force and Universities Australia to explore how businesses can take proactive steps to minimise the impact that bullying, discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment and DFV can have on those businesses. Anyone who has seen Adair present knows that it will be engaging, thought provoking and entertaining. It is a chance for businesses to take time to reflect and learn from others’ experiences.
Consider these numbers:
- Workplace bullying and discrimination cost the Australian economy up to $36 billion every year, with each case costing employers between $17,000 and $24,000. This results in lower productivity, more staff absences, higher turnover, and poor morale.
- Sexual harassment cost Australian businesses $1.82 billion in lost productivity in 2018, not including increased absenteeism and turnover or the cost of handling complaints.
- Domestic and family violence costs the Australian economy $26 billion annually, including $175 million in direct costs to employers. In Queensland alone, the cost is between $2.7 and $3.2 billion each year.
This workshop is supported by TSBE, Toowoomba Regional Council Mayor Geoff McDonald, and Fitzy’s Toowoomba.
